SICCI Blueprints a Bold Future for Tamil Nadu’s Economy

The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) on Monday congratulated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and also presented a set of policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the state’s long-term economic growth across key sectors.

SICCI President Arun Alagappan said Tamil Nadu continues to be one of India’s leading industrial, agricultural, services, and export-driven economies. However, he emphasized that maintaining competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global environment—shaped by technology shifts, climate concerns, and increasing global integration—will require continuous policy reforms, stronger institutional coordination, and targeted investments across sectors and regions.

The chamber highlighted the need for greater policy clarity and further improvements in Ease of Doing Business. It recommended updating existing frameworks such as the Tamil Nadu Industrial Policy, Artificial Intelligence Policy, MSME Policy, and Cybersecurity Policy to better align with emerging economic priorities.

SICCI also proposed the introduction of new sector-focused policies, including a Dairy Development Policy, Agri-Tech Policy, and Diaspora Engagement Policy, aimed at unlocking new growth avenues and broadening the state’s economic development base.
